Jim Baillie passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Saskatoon, at the age of 85.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred; his daughter Shelley Haider (Randy); grandchildren Daniel, Mathew (Tara), and Jessica; great-granddaughter Brooklyn; and cousin Heather Baillie Plester.
Jim was predeceased by his son Rodney (1988) and his parents, James Baillie and Louvaine Baillie. Born in Chemainus, B.C., Jim later moved to Saskatoon, where he began his career as a power linesman before transitioning into automotive mechanics. He eventually found his passion in the trucking industry, founding and operating Transall Express Ltd. Jim was an avid stock car racer, proudly driving car #44. He also loved camping throughout Saskatchewan and eventually settled at a permanent site at Martins Lake. A devoted grandfather, Jim enjoyed watching his grandsons play hockey and often traveled to out-of-town tournaments to cheer them on. He was frequently seen driving the 1953 Chevy ½-ton truck that he and his son Rodney rebuilt—now lovingly driven by his grandson Mathew.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sunnyside Nursing Home for the excellent care Jim received over the past five years. In accordance with Jim’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private interment will be held at a later date.
