James E.W. Gray
Born on the family farm at Colonsay on November 20th, 1938, he took his schooling in Colonsay. He loved sports, especially curling, hockey and baseball. He had the privilege to represent Elstow Oddfellow Lodge at the United National Pilgrimage in New York. Jim later worked for the TD bank in Saskatoon and Kenora, Ontario.
Jim and Irene were married in Saskatoon on May 7th, 1966. They moved to the farm where they lived in the original house. Jim enjoyed cattle and formed Timberline Cattle Co. of Registered Horned Herefords. Jim and Irene had three children, Brian James (born June 8th , 1967, passed June 9th, 1967). Dale Edward (born August 26th 1968), and chosen daughter Joanne Grace (born May 26th, 1971).
Over the years, Jim and his family were heavily involved in the community. Jim coached hockey, baseball, and curling, and later became the RM councillor of Colonsay #342 in 1986. He became Reeve in 1994 and in 2002, the RM was the first council in history to return a portion of the rate payers taxes.
The farm was sold in 2003 and, after moving into town, Jim became the Mayor of Colonsay from 2006 to 2020, enjoying a rewarding career in politics. Jim received the Governor General Award To his worship James Gray 1952-2012.
After retirement was the start of a long journey in health. Passing at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon on Thursday November 13th, survived by his wife Irene, son Dale, daughter Joanne, chosen grandchildren Venessa, Brenda, and Kory, Sister Lillianne, as well as their inlaws Allan Chamney, Murray Dering, Darold St. John, Kathleen Dering, and Marry O'Brien and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral for Jim will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
