JAMES ALLAN MCVICAR
Jim McVicar passed away on August 2, 2025 in St. Paul's Hospital with family by his side.
Jim was born in Saskatoon on August 13, 1952. He attended Colonsay School and played both football and hockey. He received his diploma in Farm Machinery Mechanics from SIAS in 1973.
Jim was a farmer, mechanic, miner, and heavy equipment operator who also owned his own excavation business. Jim was community-spirited and certainly did his share of volunteer work. He loved to read, travel, tinker in his shop, visit with friends, and spend time at the cabin at Candle Lake.
Jim is survived by his wife Gail, daughter Toni-Rae, son Ross (Melissa), grandsons Lucas and Avery, siblings: Duncan, Margaret (Ken) Chambers, and Chris (Brian) Desmarais, mother-in-law Rose Washington, sisters-in-law Jo-Ann Washington (Bob Chiga), Linda (Ron) Fehr, and Heather (Richard) Crawford. He will also be loved and remembered by his cousins, nieces and nephews, and his many friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents John and Gladys McVicar, sister-in-law Joyce McVicar and father-in-law Frank Washington.
A funeral service will be held at the Colonsay Community Hall at 2pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Colonsay Rec Board, Box 244, Colonsay, SK S0K 0Z0.
