James "Bryan" Peever was born on November 25th, 1941 in Melfort, Saskatchewan. He is the oldest of 3 children Myrna (Herb) and Ivan (Della) . He had 3 older step siblings that have predeceased him Bill(Gladys), Gordon(Agnes) and Phyllis(Les). He grew up in Kinistino, Saskatchewan and met the love of his life Mattie Marie Soulier when they were in grade 1. From an early age Bryan learned the value of hard work helping his dad deliver coal around town. Bryan was an athlete who played several sports while growing up including baseball and hockey. He worked at his future father in laws Ford dealership in whatever capacity was required of him so he could keep close to Mattie. After graduating from High school he worked for Kraft foods which allowed him to travel around Ontario selling the "new" Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. After a couple of years in sales he decided to go to university where he pursued Theology and received a degree in Education.
Upon finishing university he married Mattie and started his career teaching in Regina. This is where they had 2 children. Jamie who lives in Saskatoon and Jennifer (Chris) Janostin who lives in Calgary.
Bryan loved teaching and wanted to advance his career. This meant moving his family all around Saskatchewan. They moved from Regina to Davidson then Meadowlake, Tisdale, Kamsack and finally settled in the Battlefords. He was the Principal of Battleford Junior high school almost until retirement. He spent his final years teaching at the elementary school in Battleford so he could be in the same school that his grandson was attending. Bryan always loved children and adored his 3 grandchildren Stephan, Kristen and Django. He was able to meet and hold his 1st great grandchild Madden.
Mattie was Bryan's first and biggest love but a not too distant second was golfing! Every summer break he could be found at the golf course. Dad and mom spent summers with family, at the Soulier family cabin at Candle lake. There he golfed, played cards, went boating and fishing. During the winters he curled.
Family was important to dad and the love he showed for his children and grandchildren was very evident as he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. His kindness and patience was on display every time he was with family. He was very close to his brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces. He never passed up an invitation to go to his sister's or sister-in-laws place for a visit and a good meal. If family was his first love, golf and food were tied for second and he never turned down a second helping or dessert.
Dad loved travelling to see family. At family gatherings you could always hear him laughing and see him on the dance floor whenever there was music playing.
Community service was very important to him. He volunteered for the Lions club in almost every town he lived in.
Dad was able to retire at 55. After he retired they were able to travel to several destinations around the world. He loved experiencing different countries.
Upon retirement , Bryan was never one to stay idle. He decided to try his hand at working at a clothing store (he always loved clothes) and became a partner in Wine Kitz with good friends. He closed out his working career with a couple of election cycles for Elections Canada.
Dad moved into Sherbrooke in 2025 and mom lives on Bluebird lane there. After being separated due to health issues they were finally together again! Even though his health was failing you could always bring a smile to his face with a joke, offering food or coffee, or just showing up for a visit.
Dad passed away peacefully after seeing his grandchildren one last time.
A Celebration of his life to be held at a later date.
