Jean Ferguson

September 13, 1927 — October 10, 2024

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Jean Ferguson on October 10, 2024, at the age of 97.

She is survived by her children Bryan, Glen (Bonnie), and Nancy; grandchildren Doug, Brad (Sabrina), Colin (Crystal), Kyla, Zachary, Megan, and Devon; great-grandchildren Noah, Dylan (Jayde), Carly, and great-great-grandson Abel.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Mansell, her son, Neil, her daughter-in-law, Darlene and brothers Gordon McDonald and Ian McDonald.

Jean was born in Teulon, MB on September 3, 1927. In 1947, she married Mansell Ferguson and together they raised three sons: Bryan, Neil and Glen and one daughter, Nancy.

She worked at Sears Catalogue Sales for over twenty years until her retirement.

Jean and Mansell were frequent travelers; some highlights of their travels included Canada, the United States, Great Britain, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Alaska, and the Caribbean.

She had an extensive collection of spoons and pins from their travels. She also cherished her collection of Royal Doulton "Pretty Ladies" figurines.

Entertaining family and friends at their home in Saskatoon and at their cabin at Candle Lake was something Jean treasured. She enjoyed spending time at the lake swimming, skiing, fishing, wiener roasts and relaxing with a good book. Jean especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews at the lake.

She was a long-time, active member of Mayfair United Church, and she enjoyed volunteering at Oliver Lodge. As well, sewing, knitting, gardening, golf, baking, playing cards and, of course, reading were some of her favorite pastimes. Jean and Mansell really enjoyed square dancing; mom also made her own square dancing dresses. Prior to building their cabin at Candle Lake in 1970, Jean and Mansell frequently camped throughout central Saskatchewan.

The family would like to thank the staff at Warm & Cozy and Cozy Nest Care Homes for their care and support.

A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens on Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. A social will follow at Edwards Family Centre across from Saskatoon Funeral Home, with parking at Saskatoon Funeral Home.

In lieu of tributes, memorial donations may be made in memory of Jean to the Heart and Stroke Foundation https://www.heartandstroke.ca or to Oliver Lodge https://oliverlodge.ca.
