Jeffrey Barnes

It is with great sadness that the family of Jeffrey Blair Barnes (known lovingly by his grandkids as "Buddy") announce his sudden passing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Monday, April 28th, 2025 at the age of 69.

He is survived by his wife Glenda Gale Barnes, sister Nancy Barnes (Bill Henry), daughter Janelle Hunt (Stephen Hunt), son Adam Barnes (Letlotlo "Lettie" Gariba), and Grandchildren Moya, Nova and Maeve.

Jeff was born in Eatonia, Saskatchewan on May 8th, 1955. He was a brilliant man with a keen intellect that guided him through a successful career as a Chartered Accountant and Chief Financial Officer. Throughout his career, Jeff was a very hard worker who excelled in his field. In his retirement, he applied his enthusiasm and curiosity for knowledge to many discussions and explorations with his grandchildren. His love for his family, wife, children and grandchildren shone through whenever he spoke of and spent time with them. Jeff and Gale first met in high school and continued to share a happy, deep and devoted love throughout their 49 years together.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Blair Barnes, and mother Patricia Elizabeth Taylor.

A celebration of life will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home, on May 8th, 2025 at 2pm. All friends and family are welcome. The service will be live streamed for those who are unable to attend. The family asks that donations to Canadian Cancer Foundation and/or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada be made in lieu of flowers or other gifts.
