Jennifer Anne Vrinten

In Loving Memory of Jennifer Vrinten

Jennifer passed away on Tuesday June 30th surrounded by her family and friends. Jennifer Vrinten was a woman of exceptional talents, deep loves, and unapologetic quirks. She was a gifted crafter, a true crime aficionado ("like a real weirdo"), a devoted animal mom, and, by her own accurate assessment, undeniably the favorite child of her family (though being the only girl might have helped a bit).

She is survived by her Loving Husband of 22 years, Joshua. She leaves behind her parents; Dave and Diane Blocka, Brothers Carter, Leo (Larissa) and Kevin (Sam); Niece Isabelle and Nephew Finnegan. As well as her in-laws; Gary and Jackie Vrinten, her Brother Evan, her Sister Jaimie Lemire; Nieces Willow, Sabrina, Hazel and Amelia.

Jen lived for the autumn. To say she loved Halloween would be a massive understatement. Together with her best friend and husband, Josh, she meticulously transformed their home with bought and handmade decorations, cementing their status as the coolest house on the block. Trick-or-treaters knew to flock to the Vrinten house for full-sized chocolate bars and Pokémon cards. Her festive spirit extended to an obsessive holiday routine-especially around Halloween and Christmas-where she insisted on watching the exact same movies and shows every single year, occasionally much to Josh's dismay.

Her love for all things spooky went well beyond October. Jen was an avid horror movie watcher and couldn't take a vacation without booking at least one ghost tour. When she wasn't hunting ghosts or learning everything there is to know about serial killers, she was putting her remarkable talent for binge-watching TV to good use. She possessed an uncanny ability to quote The Simpsons for nearly any occasion and was a massive Lord of the Rings nerd, famously choosing Tolkien's music for both her wedding and her final farewell.

Jen had incredibly gifted hands, a trait she was sure she inherited from her beloved Grandma. She was an immensely talented crafter who poured her heart into sewing clothing and elaborate Halloween costumes, making quilts, knitting, and needlepoint. She was also a lover of nature, trees, and hiking. She loved outdoor gardening and flowers, though she would be the first to admit she possessed absolutely zero talent for keeping indoor plants alive.

A lifelong animal lover, Jen was endlessly obsessed with cats and, eventually, her beloved dog, Freyja and family dog Ryo. She loved being an auntie to her 6 nieces and 2 nephews, especially spending time with her best buddies, Isabelle and Finn.

Jen mastered the art of the "Treat yoself" lifestyle. She loved little treats, snacking, and hanging out with friends on lake trips. She lived for sushi dates, ramen, French fries, chicken fingers, and drinking perhaps a bit too much wine when the mood struck. She loved visiting breweries to sample craft beers, and always had a craving for a soft pretzel accompanied by an unreasonable amount of mustard choices or beer cheese for dipping. And candles-there were so, so many candles.

She loved traveling with Josh and their friends, especially their "adoptive vacation son," Mitch, whom she always tried to keep in line. At home, she cherished her regular coffee and lunch dates with her Mom or Jackie. These outings almost always led to a Winners or HomeSense, where she would either proudly buy nothing, or buy something to immediately stash in a closet, claiming later, "I've totally always had this." She also shared a special bond with Dave, trading photos of random birds and wild animal sightings.

Jen leaves behind her husband and best friend, Josh, alongside a family and circle of friends who will forever miss her warmth, her humor, and her unmatched spirit. She lived a life full of cozy nights, spooky adventures, and a whole lot of love.

In the words of J.R.R. Tolkien, "The journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take."
