Jim Lewis

November 23, 1939 — December 20, 2025

Jim Benjamin John Lewis passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the age of 86 with the love of his life, Eloise, by his side. Jim was predeceased by his mother Bertha Lewis, father Jim Lewis Sr., sister Carol Prysaznuk, brother-in-law Ron Prysaznuk, niece Marilee, nephew Kent Nielsen, great-niece Grace Sitter, mother-in-law Doris Victoria Sitter, and brother-in-law John Sitter. Jim will be greatly missed, but always treasured, by his nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Jim was born on November 23, 1939, at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon. His first job was at Modern Press. Jim went on to become a firefighter with the Saskatoon Fire Department - a position he held with great pride for 28 years. He was the founder of Saskatoon Fire Protection as well as Lewis & Sons Concrete, all while maintaining his duties as a firefighter. Jim was a vital part of helping Eloise establish Sitter School of Dancing - and he continued his tireless commitment and unwavering support of both her and the Studio with joy. Jim envisioned and created hundreds of spectacular, gravity-defying, awe-inspiring, one-of-a-kind props that brought sheer delight to the dancers and families at the Studio. As a young man, he was an extraordinary athlete and excelled in hockey, soccer, baseball, racquet ball, tennis, and was known at all the fire halls for his exceptional skills in ping pong. Jim was also an accomplished woodworker, sculptor and landscaper. No matter the project, large or small, Jim approached it with meticulous detail and pride. The Studio, home and yard were his showplace - and he created the Christmas displays that grace the front of the properties today for the joy of students, family, friends and the community. "Mr. Jim" was a fixture at the Studio and was loved and respected by the teachers, students and parents. Even with all of his many accomplishments and successes, his greatest role was as a steadfast and loving husband to his "Ellie." For 48 years, he never left her side, supporting her, loving her unconditionally - and making all of her dreams come true.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 17th, 2026 @ 1:00p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home, with a tea to follow at the W.A. Edwards Family Centre.
