Jo-Ann Olyowsky (nee Podgurny) was born October 24th, 1947 and passed away on September 3rd, 2024 at the age of 76.
She was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta and even though she had moved to a couple of different provinces over the years, she remained an avid Oilers and Elks fan.
At a young age she met, fell in love with, and then married Roger Olyowsky. For almost 60 years they faced life as an unbreakable team. Together they raised 3 children and went on to become grandparents to 6 and great grandparents to 11.
Jo-Ann spent her professional career as an office manager and eventually retired from National Pagette.
After retirement she loved spending her winters in Mesa, Arizona golfing and hosting happy hours and visiting with many dear friends. She was diagnosed with Logopenic Progressive Aphasia due to Alzheimer's in August of 2021 and the disease progressed quite rapidly.
Roger stayed by her side visiting her daily until her death.
She was predeceased by her parents Leo and Amelia Podgurny, and her brother Gary Podgurny.
She is survived by her husband Roger Olyowsky, sons Rod (Kim) Olyowsky, Kelly Olyowsky, daughter Shelley (Mark) Riffel, 17 grand and great grandchildren, brothers Don Podgurny, and Jack (Joan) Podgurny as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a come and go tea to celebrate her life on Friday, September 6th from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm at the Edward's Family Centre, 333 4th Avenue North, courtesy parking at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan or the charity of your choice.
