Joan Rosalie Holdstock

With heavy hearts full of loving memories, the family of Joan Rosalie Holdstock (née Kagen) announce her peaceful passing the morning of May 31, 2026.

Joan is survived by her daughter Wendy, adopted children Baron, Holly, and Lorne, her beloved grandchildren Michael (Cindy), Larry (Melissa), Jason, Zachary (Darcie), and Aaron (Jen), and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, Peter Holdstock, her husband, Alan Cunningham, and granddaughter-in-law Tawsha Klein-Sparks

Joan was born October 15, 1933 in Toronto, Ontario, the only child of Leah Elkin and Robert Medlin. Joan spent much of her youth in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she formed strong memories in little Italy. She married her first husband Roger Eckenroth at 15 and they welcomed their daughter Wendy on July 2, 1950. Joan moved to Saskatchewan in 1958 with her second husband Ronald Peterson and they adopted Baron, Holly, and Lorne. Later, she met and fell in love with Peter Holdstock during university. They wed in 1979 and shared many beautiful years together travelling and enjoying their family until his passing in 2001. Joan then wed Alan Cunningham in 2006 and they enjoyed many warm winters in Palm Springs together until his passing in 2015.

Joan was a shining star; a model, an actress, a singer, a dancer, a pianist. She was a voracious reader and compelling writer. She was a strong willed woman never afraid to speak her mind and argue her case. She was a devoted and loving grandmother. She will be remembered and loved by all who knew her.

Private family grave side service will take place at Woodlawn cemetery, where Joan will be laid to rest beside Peter.
