His family is saddened to announce the death of John Cowan. John was predeceased on New Year’s Day by his infant daughter, Madison, whom he now joins in eternal life. John is survived by his partner, and mother of his daughter, Berkeley Donkervoort. John is also survived by his loving parents, Bob Cowan and Anne Doig; his siblings, Rob (Sarah) Cowan, Alison Cowan, Peter (Leo Perlinger) Cowan, Patrick Cowan, and Alexander “Sandy” (Reina) Cowan; as well as by his nieces and nephew, Natasha, Luke and Etta Cowan.
John was born in Saskatoon and attended Greystone Heights School and Evan Hardy Collegiate. John apprenticed as a Pipefitter through the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. After recovering from a devastating head injury in 2008, John graduated from his program at NAIT and obtained certification in his trade in Alberta.
John will be remembered as a fun-loving, adventurous, and kind person, who would do anything for his family and friends. He was devoted to Berkeley and to their daughter, Madison. John deeply appreciated and was comforted by the love and support they received in their loss of Madi.
Friends so wishing may make a donation in remembrance of John to STARS (the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service) or to a charity of their choice.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. For those unable to attend the service, the family invites you to join the service via livestream.
