John Hector Fowler of Saskatoon, Sk., formally of Salvador, Sk., passed away on December 29, 2025 at the age of 101. John was born in Toronto to Alex and Tina Fowler (originally from Scotland), homesteaders at Salvador. His father died when he was 5. He attended school in Salvador where he developed beautiful hand writing. English literature was one of his favorite subjects and he could still recite poetry from memory at 101 years. He attended the School of Ag. at the University of Saskatchewan in the mid-1940’s. He farmed with his brother Bill and eventually with his son Jim. In 1955 he married Elma Logie and they raised 4 children on their farm. John’s favorite winter pastime was curling, summer was farming. Dad could never walk past a weed without pulling it. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elma; sister Margaret of Kelowna; son Jim (Donna) and their children Jason, Dallas, Cody, Katelyn, Jessica and families; son Dave (Denise) and their children Michael and Chris and families; daughter Barb (Tex) and their daughter Caroline; son Brad (Cheryl) and their children Emily, Anna, Dan, Hillary and families. He was predeceased by brothers Bill, Norm, Al and sisters Jessie and Alice.
We will miss our gentle Dad and his unique sense of humour.
A family interment will take place at Salvador in the spring.
