John Charles Larson
September 12, 1956 - July 13, 2024
It is with heavy hearts, we say farewell to John, who passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital on Saturday, July 13, at the age of 67 from kidney failure.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley, sons Tyler, Clayton and daughter Allison; sisters Susan Arneson, Sheila Wilcox (Bill) and brother Ron Larson (Gail) as well as his loving nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents Henry and Isobel Larson, brother-in-law Roy Arneson.
John was born in Yorkton but soon moved to Saskatoon where he resided in the Hudson Bay Park area and attended Henry Kelsey school. In Grade 5 the family moved to the Montgomery area where he attended Montgomery School and later Mount Royal Collegiate. John worked in various jobs in his teens until finally settling with a career at CN Rail. He worked there until his retirement in 2011.
John loved playing hockey and lacrosse in his youth, winning many trophies with his teams. He enjoyed watching sports, especially NFL Football and was involved in a football pool (Arnie Prebushski Memorial Football Pool) for many, many years, and was so happy when his boys joined along with him. John felt very blessed to have such a loving family and was so very proud of them, along with an amazing circle of friends in his life.
He will be forever missed. John did not want a funeral, his request was to honour him by gathering in his backyard, have a cocktail, listen to music, tell stories and share memories. There will be a Come and Go Celebration of Life in the backyard of the Larson home from 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024 (1687 Bader Crescent, Saskatoon, SK.) Please bring a lawn chair and BYOB.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
