John Loeppky

1924 — January 28, 2019

LOEPPKY, JOHN
1924 - 2019

John Loeppky was born in Russia in 1924 to Frank and Anna (Letkeman) Loeppky. He came to Canada with his parents and three brothers George, Frank, and Jake in September 1926. His little sister Annie passed away on the journey over. For a few years the family moved around and in 1934 they  settled near Parkerview. Three lovely sisters Elizabeth, Anne, and Susie were added to complete the family. Log buildings were erected for the family home and barn. John attended Chiselhurst School and Parkerview School. Times in the early years of farming were tough but they did have fun times with family and friends. John married Tina Wall in 1955 and took the Pasture Manager's job at the P.F.R.A. near Dundurn. He enjoyed a ride on a good horse on a beautiful day to check the cattle in each pasture. John greatly appreciated the patrons who put the cattle in the pasture and the hired men who rode with him. Over the years many of these people have become his good friends. He loved to play cribbage and loved to curl. John and Tina retired into Dundurn in 1980 and later moved  to Saskatoon. John passed away peacefully on Monday, January 28th, 2019, at the age of 94. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave. N, Saskatoon SK.. Interment will take place at the Dundurn Cemetery. John is survived by two daughters, Carol (Donald) Jackson, Humboldt, SK and Darlene Loeppky, Nanton, AB; one son, Wayne (Christine) Loeppky, Grandora, SK; two sisters, Elizabeth (Ben) Brown, Dalmeny, SK and Susie S. Wiebe, Regina, SK; one sister-in-law, Frieda (Frank) Loeppky, Foam Lake, SK; one brother-in-law, Henry Dyck, Saskatoon, SK; seven grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
