John Molberg

John Lyle Molberg, 86, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at RUH in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, surrounded by his children. Born on October 31, 1939, in Midale, Saskatchewan, John lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and community.

John's early years were spent in Midale, where he grew up with cousins who felt more like siblings. He attended Bethel College for a year before joining the work force. He loved to reminisce about his job delivering milk in Saskatoon using a horse and buggy. He later dedicated many years to Shell Canada in the oilfield industry.

Faith played a central role in John's life. He was deeply involved in the First Baptist Church in Midale and later the AGC Church in Biggar. A lover of music, he found joy in listening to and singing old-time hymns, right up until the days before he died. He had a beautiful voice and sang in many a choir and quartet.

John shared 65 years of marriage with his wife, Margaret (Rennie). Together, they built a life filled with love and faith. They enjoyed camping with their young family and later bus trips and cruises, some highlights being Alaska and the Panama Canal. Margaret was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and when her care became too much moved to long-term care in Biggar in 2023. John remained in his assisted living facility in Saskatoon where the last few years were very difficult for him, being separated from his best friend and life partner.

John Lyle is survived by his children: Wendy Bourassa, Darcie (Tim) Hammond, and David (Tamara) Molberg; as well as grandchildren: Casey and Jordan Bourassa; Kelsey (Jacob), Liam (Erin), and Jillian Hammond; Emily, Samantha, and Addison Molberg. John Lyle also leaves behind his nephew John (Jenny) Molberg and niece Mitzy Lynne (Lewis) Frere. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard Molberg.

In addition to his devotion to family and faith, John loved carpentry work, crossword puzzles, watching curling, and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. John's quiet demeanor was complemented by a keen sense of humor and he loved to tell jokes.

John Lyle Molberg will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend whose legacy of faithfulness, kindness, and humor will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Now his work on earth is done.

John's family will be forever grateful to the staff at RUH (especially 5200) for the exceptional care he received during his last 2 weeks. We are also thankful to everyone at Preston Park I in Saskatoon for the kindness and support he received during his time there.
