John, our dearly loved husband and father, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 5. John was born in Melfort and attended public and high school in his home town. He graduated from the College of Agriculture and farmed for a number of years in the Melfort area. He taught Driver Education in the high schools in the North East part of Saskatchewan. John met Geri McMahon in high school and they were happily married for 57 years. John was a loving father to his sons, Shaun (deceased) and Matt. The family relocated to Saskatoon in 1981 after selling the family farm. John and Geri purchased a lake front cabin at Candle Lake in 1981 and also took a family vacation to the Maritimes that summer. John enjoyed taking his sons fishing, water skiing and boating. He volunteered to help his sons' hockey teams, running the clock or the penalty box. John was very supportive of all community organizations that his sons were involved with. Family vacations included a trip to Disney Land and Hawaii although most vacations were spent at the lake. In 1991, John and Geri moved to Swan River, Manitoba; continuing to support Geri's career they moved to Brandon Manitoba in 1993. John, Geri and Matt returned to Saskatoon in 1999. John enjoyed entertaining family and friends over the years and visiting warmer countries during the winter months.
