With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ivo John Rogic who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 8th, 2025, at the age of 81. Left to mourn are his wife of 56 years, Dora; daughter, Adriana Lydia and son Marin; and many extended family and friends.
Ivo (John) Rogic was born in Zagreb Croatia. Ivo (John) spent his childhood in his family hometown of Sveti Juraj, Croatia then later moved back to Zagreb where he finished trade school and became a Heavy Duty Mechanic. Ivo (John) decided to embark on an adventure and immigrated to Canada in January 1968. First landing on the east coast and then in June of that year he headed West to the promise of jobs on the railroad in Saskatchewan. One year later his wife Dora joined him, and they began their life in Saskatoon together.Ivo (John) worked for CN Rail for 31 years as a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic and after that retirement started another career lasting 15 years as a Commissionaire at the National Research Council. He loved his family immensely, his home, amazing garden, deep conversations on many topics, his friends and community. He also had great relationships with former colleagues and especially his neighbors who have been so kind and helpful to him over the last few years. Ivo was a proud Croatian and very active in the Croatian community, preserving culture and sharing traditions since his arrival in Canada. Anyone that knew him could see the love he had for his homeland. The family was very fortunate to travel back home together numerous times and through that he was always able to feel the connection of Croatia in his heart.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of Ivo (John’s) physicians and medical specialists, over the years and most recently, the palliative team in Saskatoon.
Ivo had a great presence and left a lasting an impact on anyone he met in his life.
Tata, Nedostajat ćeš nam i nikad nećeš biti zaboravljen. Voljet ćemo te zauvijek.
