Judie Ireland of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, passed away on May 10, 2026, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, at the age of 79 years.
Judie was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She later moved with her family to Regina, where she met her first husband, Gil Cavanagh, the father of her daughter, Mia. Gil passed away in 1976.
She was later married to Grant Ireland, who predeceased her, along with her parents, Clem and Bud Dodds.
Judie is survived by her daughter, Mia Cavanagh; her sisters, Linda Connell (Ken) and Jackie Zwarich (Ron); her sister-in-law, Kim Cavanagh-Brown (Darrell); her grandchildren, Josh Duggleby (Shelbey), Kiera Duggleby (Zach), and Megan Lee (Garrett); as well as her great-grandchildren, Theo, Jace Bennett, and Lily.
Judie was deeply involved in the local Alcoholics Anonymous community and was a committed and faithful member for over 50 years. Her journey included long-standing struggles with mental health and health challenges, which she faced throughout her life.
She and Grant shared a lifelong love of animals, especially West Highland terriers, and spent many years with them as part of their family. Her first was a cherished little dog named Muffin, who she adored.
She loved crafting and was very talented at it. She was also known for her unique and colourful sense of style and her many tattoos, which reflected her vibrant personality.
She will be remembered for her sense of humour, her long-standing recovery work, and her love for her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the RUH Foundation for Mental Health and Addictions in memory of Judie.
