Judith Caron Crozier-Smith died on January 10, 2024 at her home in Candle Cottage, Samaritan Place, in Saskatoon. She was born in Regina on April 30, 1947 to Randall and Myrtle McLean. Judy received an education degree in library science from the University of Regina. She taught at Aberdeen School for 28 years where she served as teacher-librarian and taught many subjects and many grade levels. “Mrs. C” was much loved by her students. Judy was active in the provincial association of teacher-librarians for many years, serving as conference organizer and journal editor. She contributed to her community while living in Oxbow and Aberdeen including the hospital auxiliary and community homecoming committees. Judy‘s commitment to St. John’s Cathedral included being a part of the pastoral care team.
Judy was predeceased by our son, Darryl Michael, in 2004. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Derwyn; grandson, Andrew; Derwyn’s brothers and sisters: Conway (Carol), Mervyn, Bronwen (Robert Vipond), David (Lavina), Gwyneth, Rhondda (Garth Halkyard); by cousins, nieces and nephews, other extended family and by a host of good friends. She was especially fond of her “down east cousins” in New Brunswick and always felt at home there. She had a very special place in her heart for our Thai daughter, Chanoknart (Fah).
We are grateful for the excellent care that Judy received over the past few years at Samaritan Place. Thank you to those who cared for Judy and made this a warm and caring home and family. We are also thankful for the support of friends in the Dementia Caregivers Support Group, a caring circle of those who share the journey through dementia.
