Judith Anne Schmid

1951 — December 15, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith (Judy) Anne Schmid , our much loved daughter, sister, and aunt. Judy was born in Humboldt Sask. on September 11, 1951, to George and Marie Schmid.
Judy leaves behind her dad, George, her six siblings: Jim (Alana) Schmid, Matthew (Joan) Schmid, Audrey (Arie) Den Boon, Clare (Brad) Refvik, Betty (Steve) Booth, and Paula (Garry) Power, and her many adoring nieces and nephews.  Judy is predeceased by her mother, Marie.
Judy grew up in Saskatoon, where she received two degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. After graduation, she taught school at the elementary level at a number of schools in Saskatchewan prior to her retirement from teaching in 2007. During her teaching career, in addition to her normal classroom duties, she was always heavily involved in teaching music and French. She directed many school musical productions and was an inspiration to many of her students. As well as her musical talents, many of her students remember her for her avid fan support for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
After retiring from teaching, Judy worked in an administrative role for the Parish of St. Francis Xavier. Over the years, she was also very active in the music ministry for this Parish. Along with her musical talent, Judy will also be remembered for the artistic talent she displayed in her beautiful needlework.
The rite of Christian burial will take place at St. Francis Xavier Parish, Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 10:30.
The family would like to thank the staff in the Palliative Care Unit at Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert for their compassionate care during her final days.
For those who wish to do so, a donation may be made in Judy’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a local Alzheimer support or research group.
