Karen Jean Hunt

March 22, 1949 — March 8, 2026

Karen Hunt (mom) passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. Mom was born on March 22, 1949, in Rosetown SK to Hughie and Jean (Stretch) Coakwell.

In 1968, mom married the father of her children, Alan Dawson, and they moved to Saskatoon. Mom was a homemaker and prepared the books for Alan’s business. They had three children: Leanne, Shane, and Dallas. Their marriage ended in 1984. In 1987, mom met Ken Hunt and they married in 2005.

Mom’s most favorite moments were spent with her family. She loved having us over for BBQ’s and suppers. Christmas Day was her favorite holiday as she loved when everyone was together. In 2008, mom became a grandma to Jaidyn, and it was a role she didn’t take lightly. Mom became Jaidyn’s caregiver during her toddler and school years while her mom was at work. The two of them shared such a special bond.

In the summer months, you would find mom and Ken outside enjoying the gazebo. She had a beautiful backyard filled with her flower beds and yard ornaments. Often when we came over, you would find mom and Ken playing a game of dice in the gazebo. Mom also enjoyed crocheting and traveling. Mom and Ken traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Las Vegas and also a few trips out to visit Dallas and Christina in BC.

Mom is forever loved and deeply missed by her children, daughter, Leanne, and granddaughter, Jaidyn; her son, Shane; her son, Dallas (Christina), and her beloved pups Lacey and Maggie. She also leaves to mourn her passing her stepson Francis (Pam) and grandsons Owen and Wyatt; her siblings Grant (Sharon), Lloyd (Marilyn), Herb (Shelly), Rob(Lisa), Bonnie (Jim), and Arnie (Tracy), her in-laws Dale (Connie) and Ralph (Wendy) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Ken; her parents, Hughie and Jean; parents-in-law, George and Elva; her stepson, Michael; sister-in-law, Mary Anne; brother-in-law, Doug;nephew Ryan; and the father of her children, Alan.

Thank you to the nurses and doctors at St. Paul’s Hospital as they provided excellent care to our mom and were so good to her. We also would like to thank everyone who came to see and visit with mom, and also for providing us with comfort during this difficult time. It meant the world to my mom and to us.

Mom, we are beyond devastated you are no longer here with us. You were the best mom to us and best grandma to Jaidyn. You were always there for each of us to lean on, give advice, and simply listen to our problems. We will miss you always and forever.
