It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Anne Klippenstine, aged 80, on January 22, 2025. A beloved wife, grandmother, mother, sister and friend, Karen was a woman of remarkable compassion, generosity and intuition who touched the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on January 25, 1944, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Karen grew up with a deep appreciation for family, music and education - for which her life was a testament. The oldest of five girls, Karen spent her early life on a farm near Pangman Saskatchewan. She fondly recalled growing up there with her sisters and learning piano from her grandmother, which became the foundation of a lifelong love of music and singing. From an early age, Karen was a natural teacher and a voracious reader. She always loved children and remained passionate about teaching throughout her life.

After completing high school, Karen earned a teaching certificate in Saskatoon and soon married Duane, the love of her life. Together they had three children and moved to Lumsden, where the home they built hosted many happy gatherings of family and friends over the years and served as a loving refuge for her children's friends and family members when needed. Karen loved to cook and bake and took every opportunity to provide a feast for family and friends.

Karen taught happily for many years in Lumsden before returning to school later in her career, while continuing to work, to complete her teaching degree, an achievement that she and her family were very proud of. During her time in Lumsden, she loved helping to lead the music in St. Peter's Catholic church for many years. Karen had a deep faith and loved serving her community. She gave generously to her church and community and would always be there to lend a helping hand when needed.

After retirement, Karen spent many happy years with Duane in Regina Beach, where she was a devoted grandmother and loving friend. It was during that time Karen was diagnosed with dementia, which she lived through for many years with grace and dignity. Karen was predeceased by her parents Gus and Noreen and her husband Duane. She is survived by her children, Dean (Paula), Kari and Jodi (Neil), grandchildren Jonathan, Taylor, Max, Jessica, Regan, Jaylyn (Zach), Kennedy (Devin), Finn and sisters Gloria, Sandra, Joanne and Debbie.

Prayers for Karen will be held on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025 at 7:00 pm in St. Paul's Co-cathedral, 720 Spadina Cres. The Funeral Liturgy will also be celebrated there on January 30, 2025 at 10:00 am. A private interment will be planned at a later date.
