KARL HEINZ PETER LEHMAN (Sept 21. 1932 - Nov 7. 2023)
Peter was born in Berlin, Germany where he spent his first 20 years, including through World War II. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada, first to Butte St. Pierre where he stayed with the Larre family who remained friends for life. He then moved to Saskatoon where he met Valerie James, the love of his life, at Christ Church Anglican where they were married in 1963, and remained active ever since.
Peter worked in sales for various construction companies including Winnipeg Paint and Glass, Hi Grade Mill Work, and Domtar (Winnipeg). Upon retirement in 1986, he opened a small philatelic business out of his home. (The previous year, he had traveled to Philadelphia to receive a lifetime membership recognition from the American Philatelic Society). Peter and Valerie traveled extensively and shared a passion for music and animals. He loved his work and especially helping people wherever he could with spontaneous and generous support over the years.
Peter is predeceased by parents Paul and Helene; and sisters Susanne Oberhack, Rosemarie Shafer, and Barbara Kube. Besides wife Valerie, he is survived by sister Marianne Walden; niece Catherine McKenna (Jack); and other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saskatoon SPCA or The Salvation Army.
A funeral for Peter will be held at Christ Church Anglican (515 28th St W) at 10:30 am on Friday Nov 10th with Rev Mark Kleiner presiding.
