SIMON, KENNETH " Ken" PAUL
June 07, 1946 - September 10, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Kenneth (Ken) Simon on September 10, 2025, at the Hospice at Glengarda, at the age of 79, with family at his side. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter Michelle (Dean) Yurkowski; grandson Andrew (Jaylynn) Yurkowski, with their daughter Blakely and grand puppy Milo; grandson Michael Yurkowski (Tori Smalcel) and grand kitty Shadow; daughter Jennifer Chupa (Shawn Dyky); grandson Chase with grand puppy Otis, step-grandchildren Jenna, Carson, and Jarett; his brother Doug (Charlotte) Simon and their children Kip (Kelly) Simon with their children Chec and Calum and Stacy Simon (Peter Wilson) with daughter Phoebe, his brother-in-law Rick (Donna) While and their children Shawn with daughters Stella and Violet, Dean (Larissa) While with their children Evan and Olivia and Heather While with daughter Jesse. Ken was predeceased by Nance, his loving wife of 55 years, his parents Paul and Helen (Simon) and in-laws Alfred (Jack) and Kathleen (Kay) While.
Ken was born and raised in Regina. He attended Imperial Elementary School and Balfour Technical High School. He played minor league baseball in Regina for the Jr. Red Sox and then a couple years in the Southern Baseball League for the Regina Red Sox. Ken met Nance in 1967 and was married in August of 1968. Ken and Nance lived in many provinces across Canada while employed with John Deere Limited for 40 years. They travelled to many different countries throughout their marriage. After he retired from John Deere in 2004, he took a few years off for golfing. He then decided retirement wasn't for him and joined the Home Depot team for almost 17 years where he was loved by many. He worked in a few areas finishing off in the paint department.
Ken was well-loved by all those around him. His life revolved around his family, especially with his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them, playing games and watching them all play sports. Words can't describe how he felt upon the arrival of his first great grandchild Blakely. You could tell by the look on his face every time she was around. He loved sports. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, baseball and golf and when not playing sports he loved watching sports all day every day cheering on his favourite teams. He also enjoyed playing cards, crib, dice and the occasional trips to the casino.
We the family would like to thank his family doctor, Dr. Hosain, and all his homecare nurses and care aids while living at home. A special thank you to Dr. Ward and the nurses and staff at the Hospice at Glengarda, for the exemplary, kind-hearted care they provided during his brief stay.
The celebration of Ken's life will be held on October 17, 2025, at 10:00 am at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the Hospice at Glengarda (donations are to be made through St. Paul's Hospital Foundation with designation to the Hospice at Glengarda - sphfoundation.org).
