Kristofer Ronald Edward Stansfield

Our family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of Kristofer Ronald Edward Stansfield. Kris was found June 11, by his biological mother Renita. He had suffered from years of depression and mental health issues that led to substance abuse and addiction. The death of our mother Hazel (who with her husband Ronald had raised Kristofer from being a toddler), was just too much grief for him to bare. Kris was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan November 15, 1988. He was loved and cherished by anyone that encountered him. Due to unfortunate events in his biological mother's life, she did the honorable thing and allowed her parents Hazel and Ronald Stansfield to legally adopt Kris in 1990. He was raised with love and affection and grew up calling his biological Aunts his sisters, and his grandparent's mom and dad. He was a happy child full of wit and humor. Very intelligent and wise beyond his years. He excelled in playing guitar, was a wonderful composer, and game designing was a passion. Kristofer was an amazing artist, anime being something he was very passionate about. The later years of his life just became too hard with the battle he had with schizophrenia. Sadly, Kris turned to substance abuse to cope. His mental health became worse.

Kris is survived by his grandfather/dad Ronald, biological mother Renita (James), sister/Aunt Amanda (Peter), and sister/Aunt Nicola (Bradley). He is also grieved by his nieces and nephews who grew up knowing him as Uncle Kris. Victoria, Sarah, Amber and Brittany (Amanda and Peter's children). Gabriel, Brianna and Ethan (Nicola and Brad's children).

We hope Kris has found the love and guidance of our mother and has found the peace he so sought on Earth. Know you were always loved, and we will never forget you and hold true to the person you were before losing your fight.

A private service for close family and friends will be provided at a later date. Please advocate for mental health awareness and addiction, it is a serious crisis among our young.
