Kristopher Troy Kocay (Kris)
February 11, 1975 - September 25, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kristopher Troy Kocay, who left us on September 25, 2024, at the age of 49. Born on February 11, 1975, in Saskatoon, SK, Kris spent his life in his beloved hometown, attending Henry Kelsey, Dundonald School and Mount Royal Collegiate.
Kris will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his mother, Lynda Kocay; his father, Daryl Kocay; his brother, Michael Kocay; and his sister, Nicole Burgess (Jason). He leaves behind his two cherished daughters, Brandi and Brooke Kocay, who were his greatest sources of pride and joy. His extended family, including many cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends, also mourn his loss.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Helen & Orville Olson and Mike & Grace Kocay, who now welcome him with open arms.
In his youth, Kris played a variety of sports, including hockey and baseball. However, his one true passion was art. As a gifted artist, Kris received numerous accolades during his school years, including having his work exhibited at the Mendel Art Gallery and winning first place in a school cake decorating competition. Though a quiet person by nature, Kris surprised many with his acting ability, taking on the lead role in the school play "Santa's Gone Hip." He also had a profound love for music, particularly heavy metal, and was an avid horror movie enthusiast and collector.
Despite the challenges he faced in life, Kris's greatest love was always for his daughters, Brandi and Brooke. They were his heart and soul, and although life's struggles sometimes made it difficult for him to be as present as he wished, his love for them never wavered.
Kris's family takes comfort in knowing that his pain and suffering over the past four years have come to an end, and he is now at peace.
A graveside service will be held in his honor at Woodlawn Cemetery on Saturday, September 28, at 1:00 PM. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the 33rd Street entrance at 12:45 PM.
Kris will be forever loved and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
