Larrie Roosdahl

October 10, 1937 — December 1, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Larrie Adolph Jacob Roosdahl, at the age of 87, on December 1, 2024. Larrie will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Wilma; and his children, Karen Thrussell, Kevin, Stephen (Rebecca), Joanne, Corey (Kim) Knudsen and Janice (Stephen) Pepper. Larrie will also be fondly remembered by his 11 grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny), Tyler (Aly), Keenan, Andrew, Malcolm, Anika, Celeste, Raquel, Nix, Emily and Anna; his three great-grandchildren, Margaux, Frances and Townes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larrie was predeceased by his parents, Adolph and Mamie (nee Hietala) Roosdahl; his brother, Wallace; and his sister, Brenda (Gil) Cox.

After Larrie graduated from high school in Golden, BC, he attended UBC and graduated as a Mechanical Engineer. He started his career in Alberta and raised his family in Burnaby, BC where Larrie worked for BC Hydro. Moving to Yellowknife in the late 80's, he worked for the Government of NWT designing and maintaining community fuel tanks. He loved working in the north, travelling to the communities and enjoying the vast expanses of northern Canada. He continued his work well after retirement as a consultant after moving south to Calgary and finally Saskatoon.

Larrie was a man of many gifts - he always had a sense of adventure and was never afraid to try something new. He was a talented artist, an avid gardener and an excellent handyman. He volunteered in the United Church wherever he lived, was involved as a leader in Scouting for over 20 years and enthusiastically assisted in the extracurricular activities of his children, supporting them in any way he could. He loved the outdoors and never missed an opportunity to take the family camping or to go canoeing, including camping across Canada. Larrie loved to travel. He visited many countries overseas, via river cruises and tour buses, and loved to go to Mexico to relax on the beach.

Larrie was a devoted family man. He was most happy when celebrating family gatherings, telling and hearing stories and watching his children and grandchildren play. He also was the family historian, helping to compile the genealogical records as a keepsake for the family and future generations. Most of all, we remember his smile and good nature. He will be missed by so many.

The family is planning a small family gathering to Celebrate Larrie's Life.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
