KOLBINSON, Loretta Ellen

August 20, 1933 - February 13, 2026

Loretta passed away at the age of 92 at Royal University Hospital with family by her side. 

She was born and raised in Saskatoon with many early years spent in Sutherland. She attended City Park Collegiate and was a proud graduate of the class of 1954 Saskatoon City Hospital School of Nursing. 

She married Thordur (Thordy) Kolbinson in 1955 and they made their home in Saskatoon after a brief time in Lethbridge. She developed many lifelong friendships through her involvement with St. Matthew's Anglican Church, City Hospital Nursing alumnae, Saskatoon Scandinavian Club and the Field House. She treasured her time with family and friends and hosted many gatherings. 

In her later years, Loretta lived in Luther Tower until moving to Luther Tower Intermediate Care Home this past year. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of both these facilities for providing exceptional care and support. We also thank Dr. G. Barnardo for her care and, in this past year, the staff at RUH and SCH Rehabilitation Unit. 

She was predeceased by her husband Thordy, her parents Lawrence and Ivy Tronstad and her sister Valerie Sauer. She is survived by her son Dean (Janice) and their children Kevin and Amanda (Steve); daughters Cheryl (Robert) and Karen; and her brother Larry Tronstad. 

Donations may be made to the SCH Foundation or St. Matthew's Anglican Church. 

A private gathering will be held at a later date.
