With immeasurable sadness, our family announces the passing of our beloved Mom. Lori moved on from this world on May 8, 2023, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Her disease stole her from us quickly and relentlessly, despite her immense bravery and grit. But there are some beasts which are so cruel that there is valour in deciding yourself when your fight is over.
Our Mom loved fiercely and unselfishly from her youth in Kenaston and Laird, to summers and winters at Candle Lake, to her recent retirement, and diagnosis. Lori was a natural born caretaker who thought of herself last. Lori took pride in her long and varied nursing career. Lori was everything from an ICU nurse to a nursing educator that went back to school for her Master of Nursing at the age of 50. With each role that she occupied, she lived by the thesis: if you are going to do it, do it right the first time.
A master of self-deprecation and wit, Lori charmed many in her life and was always surrounded by friends and loved ones. She was in love with her family: husband, Cliff; son, Jamie; daughter, Kit; Jamie’s daughter, Macy; and Kit’s dog, Sophie. Lori was very close with her siblings, Brenda, Jim (Tammy), and Darryl.
Lori was simply the best and our family is incomplete without her, but we are blessed that her soul chose ours to share her life with. Our time with you was not enough, Mom, but our love for you is infinite.
A Service in Lori’s honour will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home. For those unable to attend the service, the family invites you to join the service via livestream.
