It is with deep sadness that the family of Lorraine Marie Blakely (Parchman), late of Saskatoon, announces her passing on May 19, 2025. Mom was born December 13, 1945, in Lafleche, SK, and was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Esther Parchman, her brothers Elmer (Rose), Howard, and Carl (Beth), and her sisters Dorothy and Wilma, and nephew Chris. Mom was a model of love, family, resilience, and hard work. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout her life, she maintained incredible strength. As a single mother raising three children, Mom made sacrifices to ensure that we did not have to. Mom pursued multiple jobs to provide for us and returned to high school when Lee was in grade 12, graduating alongside him. Mom later achieved her Bachelor of Arts and certification as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse. Mom worked at group homes in Prince Albert and concluded her career at the Regional Psychiatric Center in Saskatoon. Her love extended passionately to her children, their spouses, and grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Mom showered all her children and grandchildren with love, attention, and spoiling. She kept constant contact through texts and SnapChat, delighting in her new Great Granddaughter Phoebe Lorraine. Her affection also extended to her grand dogs, whom she spoiled with treats. Her family was paramount to her and she was very proud of all of them. Due to health issues since 2019, Lorraine was unable to travel to Savannah, GA, a place she cherished for its weather, humidity, and unique scents. She spent portions of her winters there from 2006 to 2019. Her health necessitated most of 2025 to be spent at Royal University Hospital, and the family extends special gratitude to the nurses on the 6200 unit for their excellent care. Mom’s favorite color, yellow, symbolized the joy she brought into the lives she touched. Her warmth, attentiveness, friendliness, and love were boundless, leaving behind a brighter world in her memory. Yellow roses are being planted to honor her legacy. She is survived by her daughter Lori (Todd) Howard and their children Torrie (Danny and Phoebe) and Shelby (Austin); her son Carl (Nicole) Blakey and their children Brad (Nicole), Brett (Molly and Austin, Charlie, and Daisy), and Allison (Drew); and her son Lee (Lynette) Blakely and their children Hannah (Ben) and Emma (Jorgen). In-laws Carol Parchman and Ray Bourlon and many nieces and nephews. The strong, close family bonds we share today are a testament to mom’s impact. She will be dearly missed and remembered fondly. We will know mom is there when she taps us on the shoulder. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
