Lorraine Kowblick

November 27, 1932 — April 25, 2025

Lorraine Elizabeth Kowblick (nee McGillivray)

Mom was born in Naicam and lived on the family farm outside Lac Vert. She had all of her schooling at Lac Vert, both Elementary and High School. She married Dad in June 1951 in Spalding. Grandpa McGillivray told a story at their wedding reception, that he had to pay 23 pigs to get her out of the hospital and 1 pig to marry her off and everyone thought that was hilarious. She loved to curl from age 14 - 20 and watched it on tv whenever she could. She and Dad loved to dance. They had 5 children over the next 11 years. They bought their 1st house in 1957 and lived there for 10 years and bought their 2nd home in 1967 and still have it. Mom worked for 30 years at the University Hospital in Saskatoon as a Ward Clerk, 10 years in Orthopedics and 20 years on Pediatrics She loved every minute of it but found it very sad. Mom was a member of McClure Church from 1971 and that is where she was confirmed and baptized. Over the years they took many trips throughout Canada to the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Quebec, Ontario, BC and Alberta. They also took trips to the US with Lorne and Arlene as well as Vern and Sheila Clark.

Mom was predeceased by husband Mike Kowblick, son Doug Kowblick, son Terry Kowblick and Son-in-law Claude McDonald, Parents Carl and Yvonne McGillivray and brothers Ken, Lorne and Arlene, Don McGillivray and Joanne McNaughton. She was also predeceased by Mike's parents Gregory and Margaret Kowblick and 5 siblings, Dora (Paul Solar), Nick (Maude), Maggie, Anne (Teddy and Eric), and Charlie (Sylvia) who she was very close to.

She leaves to mourn her daughter Brenda McDonald, son Lorne (Peggy) and daughter Lynn as well as 6 grandchildren, Erin Marsh (Jeff), Kristin Kowblick (Sean), Lindsay Kowblick (Keith), Stevie Grant (Cory), Jessica Kowblick (Inder), and Taylor Kowblick (Morgan) as well as 15 great grandchildren, Connor and Jacob Marsh, Nathan, Josh and Brooklyn Howes, Ava and Collin Leas, Lyncoln Gerow-Kowblick, Beckham, Saunder and Suri Grant, Kierra Hansen, Carter and Chase Bracht and Tristan Kowblick. She also leaves to mourn her sister-in-law Elsie McGillivray, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Family was what she lived for and would do anything for them. Her house was always a gathering place for relatives and friends to come and stay. Mom and Dad's house was always open to the kid's friends who would quite often just pop over for a chat and coffee.

Mom leaves her special neighbour Colleen McCrea, of 58 years, and special friend Kim Lewis (Lynn Scrimshaw) who have been so good to her and helped her in so many ways these last few years. We would also like to thank neighbours Holly and Jon Stushnoff, and boys Owen and Nate, for their special friendship helping mom navigate snow removal, and for the delicious treats.
