Louise Catherine Strohan

With sadness and gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Louise Catherine Strohan (née Sereda) announces her peaceful passing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Aug 1, 2026, at the age of 78.
Louise will be deeply missed by Myron, her husband of 53 years, and by her two sons and their families: Shawn and Terresa Strohan, together with Mic (Aidan), Gabrielle, and Bennett; and Cory and Liesa Strohan, together with Jade, Braydon, Julia, and Amber.

Louise was born near Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, to William and Mary Sereda (née Popik). Raised on the family farm and surrounded by a large extended family, she carried many fond memories of their time together throughout her life. Louise attended school in Foam Lake before completing high school at Sacred Heart in Yorkton. She began her career as a switchboard operator with SaskTel while also taking university classes at the University of Saskatchewan.

In 1971, Louise met Myron, the love of her life, in Saskatoon. They married in 1972 and built a life together over 53 years of marriage. Louise was deeply proud of her sons, Shawn and Cory, and was a devoted source of love and support to them and to Myron.Her interests and activities evolved over the years, but she always treasured opportunities to visit with family and friends. Through her sons’ school activities, music and Ukrainian dancing; her involvement with the Catholic Women’s League; her work at the University of Regina; her Curves community and the travels she enjoyed over the years, Louise formed many lasting friendships. Bridge held a particularly special place in her life. She belonged to many bridge groups in Regina and Saskatoon over the years, and in later life, playing cards and spending time with her bridge friends became one of her favorite pastimes.

At home, Louise could often be found working on crafts, playing cards, tending her garden or preparing to host family and friends. She took quiet pride in having her garden featured on Regina’s Secret Gardens Tour for several years, planning their annual winter getaways to British Columbia, and always ensuring that the freezer was well stocked with perogies, borscht and other treats for the next family gathering.

In retirement, Louise embraced Myron’s desire to see the world and helped plan and navigate many cruises and visits to countries abroad, including a memorable journey to Antarctica. More recently, she enjoyed watching curling and comparing notes with her sisters about the latest bonspiels, while also faithfully following the Blue Jays from day to day.

In addition to Myron, her sons and their families, Louise is survived by her siblings, Pauline Sereda, Sophie Schebel, Anne Poole (Ed) and Angie Sereda; her sisters-in-law, Donna Strohan and Joan Santoro (Dominic); and her brother-in-law, Ray Strohan (Margaret).

Louise was predeceased by her sisters, Olga Zadorozniak (Willie) and Rose Sereda; her brothers, Andy Sereda (Olga) and Emil Sereda (Doreen); and her brothers-in-law, Larry Strohan and Steve Schebel.

Louise’s family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Hospice at Glengarda for the compassion, kindness and exceptional care they provided to Louise, as well as the comfort and support they offered our family.

A celebration of life will be held at the Saskatoon Western Development Museum at a later date.
