It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister, sister-in-law and aunt, Louise Adelheid Wiens on September 15, 2020.  Louise was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan on June 25th, 1929. She went to public school at Wiggins School district from Grade 1 to 10. She took her Grade 11 and 12 at Rosthern Junior College. Louise continued her education with a year at Normal School and received her B.A. and B.Ed at the University of Saskatchewan. She also spent three years at Canadian Mennonite Bible College in Winnipeg. As a teacher, Louise taught 4 years in rural Saskatchewan and 13 years in LaCrete, Alberta.  In between teaching she generously took time off for stints of voluntary service:   two years at Alsa Craig Boys’ farm in Ontario and two years in Oklahoma City teaching 4 year olds.  Louise had an adventurous spirit and went on many enjoyable trips. In 1965 she and a friend toured all over Europe for a year in a Volkswagen station wagon.  Louise traveled to Russia, spent a summer in the Scandinavian countries, and enjoyed Hawaii.  She was an avid bird watcher and travelled to many provinces to spot a bird in her binoculars.  When her father passed away in 1978 she left her teaching job in Alberta and came home to live with her mother in Saskatoon.  Here she took a Library Technician course and then got a job at the University of Saskatchewan library.  She worked there for 13 years.  Louise was a very generous person, spending time with her nieces and nephews and donating her time and resources to the many charities she was involved with.  Louise was actively involved in First Mennonite Church.  Louise leaves to mourn her brothers Bruno (Rosanne) Wiens, Hugo (Sharon) Wiens, and sister-in-law Katie Wiens.  She was treasured by 9 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews.  Louise was predeceased by her parents Peter and Tina Wiens, sister Irma (Menno) Epp and brother Albert Wiens. A private service and interment will be held at a later date.
