Lynda Lorraine Hretsina

With hearts full of love and profound sadness we announce the passing of Lynda Lorraine Hretsina (nee: Ashbacher) who left us on May 29 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

On April 25, 1952, due to bad weather and terrible roads that prevented her family from getting to Kerrobert, she was born in Major, Saskatchewan. It was fitting as she always did things on her schedule and liked to make the most of her time.

She lived a life built upon unwavering love, resilience and a commitment to putting her total energy into every single day and activity.

Growing up on the farm, Lynda developed her legendary work ethic. She possessed the ability to take on any challenge, roll up her sleeves and excel. This was evident in her varied career path transitioning seamlessly from a bar server and grocery store clerk to a health care aide, ambulance driver, and eventually finding her true calling as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). As a nurse, Lynda worked a variety of roles across Saskatchewan from the far north in Stony Rapids and Fond du Lac to BHP Jansen outside of Lanigan. Above all Lynda was a proud mother and grandmother who loved spoiling her grandkids, opening her home and heart to family and friends and travelling extensively.

Lynda was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Gwen Ashbacher, and her brother Dale and sister-in-law Judy. Her legacy will be carried forward by her husband Jim Hretsina, sons Justin (Sandra) and Deldan (Stephanie), her beloved grandchildren (Quin, Cassiana, Hayden, Ashton), her brothers, Duane and Darrell (Wendy), and sisters, Lana, Loanne (Craig) and Lorna (Jesse), and step children Lyndsay (Eric) and Tara (Chris), their children Raen and Stevie, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

A celebration of love for Lynda's life will be held in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan on June 5. Further celebrations of her life will be organized at a later time. Donations in her name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Association.
