Margery Lampman

Margery Irene Lampman (nee Docking) December 25, 1924 – April 14, 2017 Margery Lampman passed away peacefully on Friday April 14, 2017 in Samaritan Place, Saskatoon at the age of 92. For several years Marge was afflicted with dementia. She was born in Weyburn on December 25th 1924 Christmas Day. She is predeceased by her parents, Nelson and Mabel Docking, her siblings Lillian, Arthur and Edwin Docking and her daughter Brenda. She leaves behind her loving husband Bill of 69 years, sister-in-law Bette Milliken (Calgary), daughter Judy Callingham (Grant Hopkins) in Ottawa and grandchildren Keven Lewis, Todd (Cara) Lewis, Christopher (Kelly) Weinrauch, Nick (Kate) Weinrauch, Lisa Lewis, Christina (Tristan Eclarin) Callingham, and Johnathan (Sandy Kechichian) Callingham as well as great Grandchildren Gavin and Owen Lewis, Isabela and Victoria Lewis and Mason Weinrauch, and many nieces and nephews. Margery graduated in 1947 with a Bachelor Household Science from the University of Saskatchewan. After graduation, Margery was employed by the Extension Department of the University of Saskatchewan to teach at Youth Training Schools and Home Craft Clubs throughout the province. This often involved carting sewing machines, stoves and supplies by train, tractor and even stoneboat. After her marriage to Bill in 1948, they farmed at Soverign and lived in Saskatoon. She helped organize the Saskatoon Homemaker Home Economists, an organization designed to keep home economics up-to-date through informative programs and workshops. Margery set up and taught senior high school Home Economics at E.D. Feehan. Marge loved fabric, in addition to her own sewing, she worked in fabric departments and taught new sewing techniques. Margery has been active in many organizations such as Consumers Association of Canada (CAC), Professional Engineers Wives’, University Women’s Club, United Church Women, Eastern Star, Job’s Daughters. Marge enjoyed collecting thimbles and depression glass, long summer days at the cottage at Emma Lake, as well as family travels which took her to many states in the US, across Canada and abroad. Margery was kind and loving and lived a full rich life. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff caring for Margery at Samaritan Place and especially her friend Viorela Stoica.
