It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Edith (Edie) Altman on May 10, 2025.
She was predeceased by her father Charles Hepburn, mother Lita (Muise) Hepburn, and her dear husband Bill Altman.
Edie is survived by her loving children Lorne (Helen), Leta, Karen, and Mark (Tasha); her beloved grandchildren Katie (Fraser), Emily, Sophie and Charles; and her great-grandchildren Ellis, Bennett and Oakley, who gave her great joy. Also left are many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.
Edie was deeply devoted to her family, church and community. A music teacher for years, Edie inspired many young musicians. She volunteered for the Music Festival, played for countless sing-alongs at care homes and senior centres, and ensured her children and grandchildren grew up surrounded by love and music. Edie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and played for services, organized activity packs for Sunday School children, and had a strong community of friends there. The interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1502 2nd Ave. N. at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23. For those wishing to attend, please meet at the cemetery gates at 9:45 a.m. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 401 4th Ave. N. Parking is available at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave. N. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA, First Baptist Church, or a charity of the donor's choice.
