Marilyn Margaret Jean Ingram
April 16, 1940 – July 16, 2025

With heavy hearts, the family of Marilyn Margaret Jean Ingram announces her peaceful passing on July 16, 2025, at home in Saskatoon, with her family lovingly by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Marilyn was born on April 16, 1940, in Melfort, Saskatchewan, and grew up in the Quill Lake area. She was predeceased by her parents, Mysie and Jim Ingram, an infant brother, and the father of her children, Victor Held.

Marilyn attended school in Quill Lake and made many lifelong friendships during her early years. She met Victor at a barnyard dance—an evening that sparked a love story and a life together. They soon married and made their home in Watson, Saskatchewan, where they raised their family and shared a life built on love, hard work, and community.

Marilyn worked at Basaraba Grocery Store and later at the Quill Plains Lodge. She also embraced the role of farm wife, often found on the tractor or combine, or delivering meals to the fields with her children in tow. Life in Watson brought her deep friendships and many joyful gatherings with her community.

Later, Marilyn moved to Saskatoon, where she worked for many years at Sherbrooke Community Centre. She loved her job and deeply valued her coworkers, many of whom became lifelong friends. She retired at the age of 73 but continued to stay active and engaged with those she loved. Saskatoon brought her closer to her extended family—cousins, aunts, and uncles—and to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She shared a special bond with her daughter Patti, who lived with her, and was grateful that her mother had also moved nearby.

Marilyn is survived by her children Cindy (Paul), Vicki (Jim), Patti (Johnny), and Mitchell; her grandchildren Joey, Jamie (Marlys), Katelyn (Fomba), and Emilee (Kristian); and her great-grandchildren Brynne, Micah, Caleb, Kye, and Kammy.

She is also survived by her brother Robert Ingram (Lucille), and their children Ronald (Brenda), Richard (Martha), and Denise (Paul), along with their children—each of whom held a special place in Marilyn’s heart.

Known for her warmth, kindness, humour, and generosity, Marilyn was deeply loved and respected. She had a vast and cherished circle of friends and made everyone feel welcome and valued. Her legacy is one of strength, love, and unwavering devotion to her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home. Luncheon to follow at the Edwards Family Centre (338 4th Ave N). Courtesy parking is available at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Quill Lake Cemetery Fund.

A Life Well Lived
She gave us love in quiet ways,
With gentle hands and busy days.
A steady heart, a guiding light,
A voice of calm, a soul so bright.

Through fields she worked, through hearts she grew,
With laughter strong and spirit true.
Though she has gone, her roots run deep
In every memory that we keep.
