Marion Isabella Schultz

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our Mom and Grandma. Marion is survived by her favourite daughters Patti (Dan) Kemmer; Marilyn (Kerry) Friesen; and Brenda (Eugene) Kuhn. She leaves behind, her Grandchildren: Darian (Rachelle), Logan (Rachelle), Stevie, Mila (Jared), Drew (Travis), Tara (Boki), Bryce, Janelle (Brad), Brett (Ayza) and Kristine; and her Great-grandchildren: Thatcher, Scarlett, Freddie, Jackson, Jayde, Liam, Brielle and Adalyn.

Marion was predeceased by her husband, Henry Schultz, her parents William and Isabel Irvine, her brothers Gerry and Bob Irvine, sisters Betty Kerr and Elaine Irvine, and her son-in-law, Dean Brown. Marion was born in Young, Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm in the hills to the west.

Marion and Henry married on April 11, 1959, and made their home in Saskatoon. While raising her 3 girls, Marion went back to school to obtain her GED, became a Journeyperson Cosmetologist, and from there went on to own and operate her salon, the Mount Royal Styling Centre. Marion earned her Red Seal (a nationally recognized standard) and enjoyed working as an Examiner for individuals coming into the Cosmetology trade. Marion was proud to be on the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Board for over 20 years.

Throughout her life Marion enjoyed helping people and making a difference. She was active in the community, helping with any of the activities her children were involved in and always weaving fun throughout everything she did. Mom helped start the first Brownie Pack in Massey Place and soon became a Girl Guide Commissioner. Marion loved to travel, dance, challenge her sons-in-law in card games, and treat her grandkids to ice cream depending on whichever coupon she had. She was a fun Mom and Grandma, and we won’t soon forget the twinkle in her eyes as she laughed.

It was fair to say that Marion loved life. It was so unfair that her health declined due to dementia. Her last 8 years were spent in the care of Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon. We want to acknowledge the care and compassion of all the Staff at Parkridge and thank you for enabling Mom to live a life that, although it looked different than before, was enriched by people who genuinely had her best interests at heart.

A Celebration for Marion will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Saskatoon Evangelical Free Church, 3102 Laurier Drive, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Marion’s life, the family asks that a donation be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550-12th Avenue, Regina, SK. S4P 3X1.
