Marjorie Elizabeth Thompson
March 7, 1927 - June 7, 2022
Marjorie Elizabeth (Peggy) Thompson, 95 years old, peacefully passed away at Royal University Hospital. Mom was born at Kyle, SK, lived near the Matador Farm and moved to study nursing at City Hospital in Saskatoon where she spent the rest of her life.
Mom was a City Hospital Nursing Grad, class of 1948A where she was a proud attender of the Nursing reunions every 5 years often hosting when they were held in Saskatoon. Mom taught in the Nursing program at City Hospital and then transferred to the University of Saskatchewan where she taught obstetrics until retiring in 1978.
In life and retirement, Mom enjoyed golfing at the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club, summers spent at White Bear Lake Hilton (Carlyle, SK), winters at Lake Havasu City, AZ, cheering on the Blue Jays and Roughriders and taking a variety of evening classes for enjoyment. Time with friends, family and her grandchildren was always precious.
She is survived by sons, Clif (Peggy), Gary (Kim) and daughter, Lynne; grandchildren, Kari, Brady (Roxane), Ryan (Jen), Kyle (Kristen), Claire (Zach) and Sydney. She was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren. Marjorie is survived by loving nieces and nephews and their families in addition to life-long friends.
Marjorie was predeceased by T.S. (Tommy), her husband of 57 years in 2005; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Harold Norheim; nephews, Dale and David Norheim; parents, Donald and Rose Lonsdale; and her in-laws, George and Luella Thompson.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held on Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at Saskatoon Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., reception to follow at the Edwards Family Centre. Mom was cremated with interment at the Columbarium at St. John’s Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation.
