It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother Marlene Brand, aged 87, of Saskatoon. She passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023 with her husband Mervyn and family at her side.

She is survived by her loving husband Merv of 70 years and 6 children; Roberta (the late Robert) Palen  of Saskatoon: Ron (Carol) of Dugald, MB; Ruth (Larry) Heisler of Saskatoon; Randy (Paula) of Ottawa, Ont; Rickey (Marianne) of Red Deer, AB and Reg of Turtle Lake; as well as 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren: siblings Betty (Leighton) Ringrose of Wainwright and Lynne (the late Les)  Williamson of St. Walburg; Ken (Susan) Willy of Turtleford; Ron (Kathy) Willy of Edmonton, AB and Doug (Lloy) Willy of Turtle Lake and their families.

Marlene was born December 20, 1935 in Cleeves, SK. She met the love of her life in Turtleford and married May 13, 1953. In their early years of marriage dad’s work took them around the province, before settling in Turtleford. Mom kept busy raising her six children & helping with their family business. In 1967 the family moved to Meadow Lake & Saskatoon in 1970. Construction began in 1971 on the cabin at Turtle Lake which became the primary residence in the late 80’s. Mom was an avid golfer accomplishing two hole in ones. Recreational and competitive curling was Mom’s winter passion for many years. In her later years she enjoyed her trips out to the Dunes where she made lasting friendships. Mom was the rock of the family, as a loving & supportive mother who instilled a strong work ethic in all of her children. Quality time spent with grandchildren provided everlasting memories, many at the Turtle Lake cabin.

The Family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the Parkridge Centre staff for their loving care over the past ten months of mom’s life. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Interment will occur at the Turtleford Cemetery on a later date.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Saskatoon Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 15th at 2:00 p.m.
