Marnie Olga McLean
It is with great love and sadness we announce the passing of Marnie McLean, age 85, on November 28, 2023, with her husband and grand daughter by her side at Central Haven Special Care Home in Saskatoon.
Marnie is survived by her husband, Ken; daughters, Sharie (Bernie) Ryma, Katrine (Charles) Ivey and Jacine (Robert) Harrington; grandchildren, Alissa (Derrick) Pernitzky, Janelle (Raymond) Stewart and their kids Gannon and Natalie, Kara (Max) Innes, Brendon, Austin, Shannon and Taylor; sister, Ruby (Bud) Bell; brother-in-law, Bruce (Carolyn) McLean; and many nieces and nephews, Linda, Peggy, Bonnie, Betty, Barb, Byron, Murray, Robb and Michelle and their families.
Marnie was born on April 10, 1938 to George and Hazel Zdaniuk in Chellwood District, near Marcelin, Saskatchewan. She was employed by the Saskatoon Board of Education as secretary at Aden Bowman Collegiate and at Evan Hardy Collegiate form 1966 – 1997. She was also a member and past President of the Saskatoon Kinette Club, and participated in many KIN projects. Marnie was an excellent cook and loved entertaining and hosting get togethers with family and friends. Her many hobbies included gardening, sewing and crafting, photography, travelling and shopping, expecially with all her grandchildren.
Granddaughter Janelle has written:
. . . we lost our shining star. The one with sparkling eyes and sheer resilience, raw opinions and honest truths, a flair for fashion and fierce love for family, and a house full of great food and greater friends, who laughed till she cried and made sure we joined. Love you forever Grandma.
Celebration of Marnie's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on December 4, 2023 at Saskatoon Funeral Home - 338 4th Ave N.
