Mary Elizabeth – Betty to everyone, was born in Saskatoon on September 29, 1930 and passed away peacefully at RUH Saskatoon on July 11, 2026.
Betty was the second youngest of 5 Brennan children and attended the former St. Joseph’s School and Nutana Collegiate. Betty went on to work for Paulins Chambers, General Motors and ended her career at Sask Mutual Insurance. With the exception of a few years working in Calgary, Betty spent her whole life in Saskatoon.
Betty was a speed skater, golfer, bowler and bridge player, and always well dressed. For decades she held season tickets to the Saskatoon Symphony, Persephone Theatre and was a regular at Fireside Singers performances. Betty member of CWL and a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Church, often visiting the sick and housebound members of the Parish. She very generously supported many charitable organizations. Having no children of her own, she was a devoted Aunt, encouraging her nieces and nephews (and their children and grandchildren) and until her later years never missed sending a birthday wish. She showed enthusiastic interest in all of our endeavours. Family was the centre of her world and we all benefited.
Betty was predeceased by her parents Daniel and Jean Brennan, all of her siblings- Jim Brennan, Bill Brennan, Margaret Brennan and Joan East, in-laws Johnell Brennan, Phyllis Brennan, Ray East, niece Colleen Flett and great nephew Luke Flett. Betty is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Betty’s long time friends Joanne Lund and Susan Tattler for continued friendship over the years.
Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, 11:00 am at St Francis Xavier Church, 222 Willow Street, Saskatoon SK.
