Mary Rose Whalen

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Rose Whalen announces her passing on October 11, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Roy Whalen and son Greg (Brenda).

She is survived by her children Roger (Samantha), Dale (Fern), Wayne & Cathy (Carlo). Her union with Roy Whalen gave her a second family that she loved as her own; Travis (Janie), Greg (Terri), Tammy (Garth) & Stacy (Les, deceased). Mary cherished her many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a unique bond and love for each and every one. Grama Gigi made everyone feel special. She is also survived by her sisters Louise & Shirley and brothers John & Gordon.

Mary was born in Fork River, Manitoba on March 28th, 1936. She started her young life by becoming a nurse and worked at Tisdale Union Hospital. Her pioneer spirit led her to several decades of farming, side by side with her partner. She cherished the farm life and the memories of raising her five children.

Mary was very active in community and church. She belonged to the Catholic Women’s League as well as several charitable organizations.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
