Matthew Leson

January 16, 1984 — May 26, 2025

With the heaviest of hearts, the family announces the untimely death of Matthew Leson of Saskatoon - a loving husband, devoted father, caring son, and dearest brother.

Matthew leaves his legacy of love to: his best friend and wife Jennifer (Lindberg); his treasured children Miranda and Henry; his devoted parents Ed and Patricia; older brother Andrew (Peter) and big sister Lisa, and Jennifer's parents Erik and Lorna, who considered him a son. He also leaves many fond memories with the Leson and Lindberg extended families - brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Amanda) and Robert (Kyla), nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He enjoyed and valued the deep relationships he and Jennifer formed with their close circle of friends. His beloved dogs will miss their daily walks with him by the riverbank.

Despite intensive medical efforts, Matthew lost his life at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon following the rapid onset of streptococcal toxic shock syndrome. He is predeceased by his grandparents, George and Mary Leson and Alfred and Norah Patterson.

Matthew was born at the Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert on January 16, 1984, lovingly welcomed into the family by his parents and his teenaged siblings.

Matthew approached everything good in life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He learned to read at an early age so he could better play the video games he quickly mastered and bested, his cat curled up in his lap.

He graduated from Carlton Comprehensive High School in 2002 and started his information technology career with studies at the University of Saskatchewan. While studying he found an outlet for his love of music and dance with very successful disc jockey gigs with Boom Music. He further honed his information technology and management skills through employment with IBM in Edmonton, Saskatchewan Blue Cross, and Sandbox Mutual Insurance, both in Saskatoon.

We will all fondly remember Matthew's wit, good humour, and joie de vivre. He loved his life and embraced its opportunities and challenges with grace, charm, and dignity. His love of family and friends and soft spot for animals of all variety showcased his deep sense of commitment to and respect for his environment and those in it.

The unexpected and early passing of our beloved Matthew leaves an unfathomable void in our lives. We are truly grateful for the time we had together and will hold him close in our hearts and minds forever.

Cremation has taken place, and Matthew's life will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers we believe Matthew would most value donations to the education fund for his and Jennifer's children, Miranda and Henry. Donations can be made via e-transfer to matthewlesonchildrensfund@gmail.com

You are invited to share your reflections on Matthew's life on the Saskatoon Funeral Home website.
