Maureen Secord

May 13, 1937 — October 9, 2024

With heavy hearts but profound gratitude and peace, we announce the passing of Maureen Secord (Karaloff) on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Oliver Lodge, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Maureen or Moe as many affectionately called her, was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on May 13, 1937, and was raised in Saskatoon. She married her high school sweetheart, James Bayne Secord, on July 6, 1957, and together they started a lifelong journey raising 4 children, while operating a successful grain farm and Arabian horse operation in Eston Saskatchewan.

Mom was not only a busy mom and wife and avid cheerleader of her husband and children, but volunteered in various organizations, election work, chair of the local school board, and helping her children in their activities. She was an excellent seamstress and not only sewed our clothes but was imaginative and creative designing and sewing many costumes for horse shows.

When Mom and Dad returned to Saskatoon in 1988, Mom took a job with Statistics Canada as an interviewer and took great pride in her role; as well as continuing to volunteer in various capacities.

Mom had a great sense of humor, a tenacious spirit, and a feisty personality that many will remember. She was an avid reader, always keeping abreast of current affairs, news, political happenings, and was pretty savvy with her computer and iPad!

Her declining health over the last several years didn't deter her and she continued to fight through. No stone was left upturned in her health journey and the family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, home care workers, nurse practitioner, and the wonderful staff at both Parkville Manor and Oliver Lodge for their unwavering commitment to mom's well being.

Rest easy mom! Your four children, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren will remember you with stories and fond memories.

At her request, no service will take place. A private inurnment at St. John's Columbarium beside our dad will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to New Hope dog rescue, Diabetes Canada, or to a charity of your choice.
