Maurice Fradette

Maurice Fradette passed away peacefully in Saskatoon on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the age of 84 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Carol; his children, Darren (Terri) Fradette and Kim Fradette (Ryan Hiebert); and his cherished grandchildren, Brendan Fradette, Logan Fradette, and Nolan Hiebert. Maurice is also survived by his siblings, Armand Fradette, Theresa Nimegeers, Emilia (Wayne) Hunter and sister-in-law, Yolanda Fradette, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by parents, Emile and Agnes Fradette, siblings Lucille (Henry) Mazenc, Roger (Arlene) Fradette, Alex (Laurette) Fradette, Rose Eva Fradette (Gordon Brown), Helen (Alphonse) Fossenier, John Fradette, Gilbert Fradette and in-laws Robert Nimegeers and Doreen Fradette.

Maurice was born and raised on the family farm in Radville, Saskatchewan. He went on to attend the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan. Following his convocation, he began a distinguished 36-year career in education with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, serving as a teacher, vice-principal, principal, and superintendent, retiring in 2002. His commitment to education was unwavering, and he was deeply dedicated to making schools welcoming and supportive places for students.

After retirement, Maurice continued his work in service to others as a facilities coordinator with the Teacher's Credit Union for many years.

Maurice met the love of his life, Carol, while attending university, and they were married on July 8, 1967, beginning a loving partnership that spanned 58 years. Together, they built a cherished family life and created many lasting memories, especially at their cabin at Turtle Lake, where they spent countless summers with family. At home, Maurice took great pride in his beautifully maintained yard, often enjoying quiet moments reading, feeding the birds and tending to his impeccable landscaping.

A long-time member of St. Philip Neri Parish, Maurice was deeply committed to his faith and community. He was instrumental in establishing the hamlet board at Powm Beach, Turtle Lake, where he served as chair for many years. He consistently gave his time and energy to improving the communities in which he lived.

Maurice had a deep love for sports and family. He was a loyal fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He rarely missed an opportunity to watch his grandchildren play hockey and took great pride in their accomplishments. In his younger years, he enjoyed downhill and water skiing, walking, and golfing. He coached and managed his children in their many sporting activities, teaching them the fundamentals of hockey, ringette, softball, skiing, and more. He later passed that same love and knowledge on to his grandchildren, teaching them to skate and supporting them in all their pursuits.

Maurice was often seen around the neighbourhood walking his dog, visiting with friends, or driving his truck with his loyal pet companion by his side. Known for his generosity and willingness to help, he was always ready to lend a hand-whether it was vehicle repairs, home renovations, or clearing snow for others.

Maurice will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family and community, and his unwavering willingness to help others. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and commitment that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maurice's favorite charity, the SPCA.

Arrangements entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home, 306-244-5577.
