Engr. Moses Ode was born on July 28, 1951 to the family of Solomon and Florence Ode. He spent his early years with his maternal grandmother’s family in Effo-Amuro (present day Mopa-Muro LGA) in Kogi State, Nigeria.

He attended Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State and later received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN. Dare spent the majority of his career working at Delta Steel Company Ltd in Delta State, Nigeria. He served in different positions over the course of his career, retiring as the Deputy General Manager of the Foundry and Pellet sector. He then moved back to Kogi, his home state, to serve as the Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on iron and steel matters, during the 2012 to 2016 administration.

Dare was a philanthropist who believed in investing in people, loved his wife, children and grandchildren and was always willing to share stories and impart wisdom.

He maintained an extensive and diverse library of books, movies and music recordings. He was passionate about science and engineering and loved to read about history and astronomy.

He loved and served God and was always willing to help others as he believed that was the way to show his love for God; by loving others.

He was a man of logic; a symbolic mix of spirituality and common sense.

Dare is survived by his wife(Titilayo); children Sesan(Judith), Femi(Funto), Remi, Kemi(Iroba) and Bunmi; 5 grandchildren, his beloved cousins, in-laws and many friends.
