Jane left on her final journey to meet the Lord in the early morning of December 9. Left to mourn her passing are the Douglas boys: Craige, Daniel (Charlotte), Donald (Judy), and Jack (Dolores), step-daughter Glenda, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sister Joanne (Elton) Hallmark of Eugene, Oregon, brother-in-law Daryl Smith, sister-in-law Geraldine Mohat, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jane was the seventh child born on the Mohat family homestead south of Battleford on August 3, 1931 and attended Eagle Hills school. When Jane was 15 years old, she entered a contest through Sunny Boy Cereal and won a horse! She spoke of Beauty with a warm heart, as it was her spark of light during the War years. She spent one summer working at the Banff Springs Hotel, graduated from Normal School and began her teaching career at Muirland school. She met and married Hugh Douglas soon after and settled on the farm, having four boys in six years. After they separated, Jane made her way to Alberta and taught in Calgary. In the early seventies, she returned to Saskatchewan and upgraded her education at the University of Saskatchewan. She accepted the Lord as her Saviour in 1972 and spent more time expressing her artistic side with painting and poetry. She met Pastor Harold Atcheson in 1982. They were married in 1983 and they ministered in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Africa. In Prince Albert, they continued to minister as well as took in many foster children, providing emergency foster care, and never turning any young ones away. After Harold’s death in 2011, she spent time with her son and daughter-in-law in Louisiana. She returned to Saskatoon to be close to her other three sons and eventually resided at the Sandulak care home due to failing health. She was predeceased by her parents Muriel (Hendrie) and Richard Mohat; husbands Hugh Douglas and Harold Atcheson; siblings Francis, Robert, Morlaine (Harver), Donald, Jean (Bennie), Ruth (Corpe), Terrance, and June (Smith). The family is indebted to the wonderful care from Betty Sandulak and her staff, St. Paul’s and Saskatoon City Hospital transitional care ward, as well as Dr. Harrington. Jane’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 15 at 3 pm at the Saskatoon Funeral Home corners of 4th Ave and 25th St.
