Nancy Elizabeth Hobson passed away March 21, 2025 after a brief illness at Royal University Hospital. Her husband David, daughter Jessica with husband Oscar and daughter Eilish were at her bedside when she passed.

Nancy was born in Saskatoon to Lillian and Ted Carpenter, the second of three children. Nancy attended Caswell Hill Elementary School and Bedford Road Collegiate. After graduation she attended the University of Saskatchewan and then took training in Radiology Technology, graduating to become an Xray Technologist at City Hospital. Nancy then ran the X-ray department for the Baltzan Brothers Medical Clinic, eventually working for the Department of Veterans Affairs in a medical support capacity till she retired.

On a blind date arranged by a friend from high school Nancy met David Hobson; it turned out that it wasn't really a blind date because they had known each other since the early days at Caswell Hill School. He was the young lad that got off the boat from Ireland in 1953 and one of the few boys with rosy cheeks and short pants. They were married on Oct 30, 1970 and after buying a house settled down to start a family. The first to arrive on the scene was a young adopted boy of 13 weeks. Nancy and David drove to Regina on April 5th, 1978 to pick up their new son who they named Jeremy David. Nancy was excited about Jeremy as he was the first grandchild from both sides of the family. Their second child, Jessica, was born February 9th, 1979.

Nancy was unsure when her husband joined the Saskatoon Kinsmen Club, but after experiencing and enjoying the friends and fellowship of the Club, she became a member of the wives auxiliary, The Saskatoon Kinette Club, where she enjoyed numerous appointments on the executive. She also worked as staffing co-chair person on the Kinsmen TeleMiracle Nine in 1985. When David transferred out of Kinsmen he joined K-40 where they put old Kinsmen over 40 years of age. Nancy then joined K-ettes, the K-40 auxiliary, and again held numerous positions on the executive. Nancy and her husband David enjoyed many years with the Kinsmen organization which became a big part of our lives. The friends made are many and long lasting.

Nancy is survived by her husband David Hobson, daughter Jessica, her husband Oscar and daughter Eilish who live in New Zealand, brother George Carpenter from Dartmouth NS, sister Joanne and her husband Bob Richard from Ladner BC, her niece Sara McArthur and children Bella and Zander from Ucluelet BC, her nephew Matt McArthur and his wife Jenn Skillen from Vancouver BC and her brotherin-law Basil Hobson and his wife Jeannine from Saskatoon. There are also numerous cousins and relatives living around the world. Nancy was predeceased by her son, Jeremy David Hobson, mother and father Lillian and Ted Carpenter, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Doris and Leo Hobson.

A gathering to celebrate Nancy's life will be held some time the end of April (possibly April 26th), allowing family members and friends to attend. If you would like to attend, please send a request to hobsonhobby53@gmail.com and you will be added to the list of those to be contacted.
