Olga Reineke passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Family was the cornerstone of Olga’s life. She will always remain held in the hearts of her daughters: Eileen (Jim) Chuey, Lois (Ted) Brockman, Maureen (Michael) Kilburn, and Laura (Mike) Cey. Her legacy continues through her 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Olga was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Reineke (August 5, 2017), and her daughter, Judy (Hilary) LaBrash (January 7, 2012).
Born near Bruno on September 3, 1933, Olga was the third youngest of twelve children born to Stephan and Josephine Kehrig. At the tender age of ten, she experienced the profound loss of her mother- a hardship that shaped her into a woman of great strength and compassion.
Though she left St. Quentin school after Grade 8 to help care for her family at home, Olga possessed a lifelong hunger for knowledge. Demonstrating her characteristic determination, she returned to her studies as an adult to proudly complete her Grade 12 equivalency, a testament to how deeply she valued education.
Before her marriage to Richard on January 30, 1961, Olga enjoyed her time working at the MacLeod’s store in Humboldt. Together, Olga and Richard built a life on the family homestead near Carmel, Saskatchewan, where they raised their five daughters. On the farm, Mom was an equal partner. She was as comfortable in the seat of a combine as she was at a sewing machine or in the garden.
She was a woman of many talents- an accomplished seamstress, a dedicated gardener, and a wonderful cook. Her home was a place of warmth, and she found great joy in the simple, earthy pleasures of rural life and the regular travels she took to stay connected with her extended family.
Faith was not merely a part of Olga’s life; it was the foundation upon which everything else was built. She gave generously of her time to the Carmel community, serving as a Catechist teacher, a leader in Lay Formation, and as President of the CWL.
A cherished annual tradition was the Our Lady of Mount Carmel pilgrimage. Olga didn't just attend the pilgrimage; she offered the fruits of her labor to it, bringing fresh flowers from her garden to adorn the altar and the statue of Mary. It was her way of weaving the beauty of her daily work into her spiritual devotion.
Olga possessed a rare spirit that lifted others; you never left a visit with her feeling anything but better about the world.
Family remained her greatest joy until the very end. She put her loved ones first, effortlessly making each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild feel as though they were the absolute center of her world. Her warmth, her resilience, and her love remain a guiding light for all who knew her.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 10:30 AM. The service will be held at The Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon.
A lunch reception will follow the Mass, where we look forward to sharing memories together.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests performing an act of kindness in Olga's honor, continuing the spirit of generosity she shared with so many.
